The Lake Ontario Skiff line of workboats has proven to be a boon for companies and organizations whoneed a boat that handles tough conditions but still comes in an economical package. The Lake Ontario Line was designed for use in the frigid conditions of the Canadian Arctic. That testbed developed a solid sea boat which can handle grounding on a regular basis, along with a little bit of ice breaking. Our hardtop models with portable enclosures are an extension of this working boat concept, enhancing the weather protection for the operator without compromising it's ability to work.
The vessel shown above was built for the US National Parks Service, others are being used by the US Fish and Wildlife Service, NYS DEC, and private individuals. An important feature of the Lake Ontario line is versatility when it comes to interior layout and propulsion. It can be rigged with forward or aft hardtop, center or side console, and with seating for up to fourteen passengers. With twin 60 HP outboards, the boat planes quickly, and cruises at more then 35 MPH. The outdrive version tops out at 45, and some outboard versions have exceeded 70 MPH. the Lake Ontario Skiff is a proven boat for all seasons, and all conditions, from the Canadian Arctic to the Rio Grande.
