RJ Marine was established in 1998 by two United States Coast Guard Licensed Marine Captains. Captain Leon Rusho Jr, a native of Grindstone Island in the heart of the 1000 Islands, was born and raised on the waters of the St Lawrence River.
Captain Kenneth Johnson, a retired Commander of the United States Coast Guard, is also an accredited Marine Surveyor and owner of Great Lakes Marine Consultants. Captain Johnson served as Commanding Officer of MSO Duluth, MN, and as supervisor of MSO Alexandria Bay, New York. He has made his home is the 1000 Islands for the last 16 years.
The company was formed to provide an integral and comprehensive range of professional services to the construction and maritime industries while simultaneously protecting the fragile environment of the St Lawrence River.
